The «Omile», the War, and Us

Description

Since July, the Vorarlberg Museum in the Atrium has been showing the exhibition "Delphina and Three Deserters." It tells the touching story of Delphina Burtscher (1926–2008), who supported her deserting brothers and her fiancé, and was imprisoned for it herself. Despite setbacks and existential crises, she maintained humor, joy of life, and optimism into old age. Two of her granddaughters turned her life story into a graphic novel. Lydia Arantes, Delphina's granddaughter, reports on how it was created and how the family deals with the memories of the "Omile."
