The great Baroque master builders of Bregenzerwald – Michael Beer, Kaspar Moosbrugger, Franz Beer von Bleichten, Peter Thumb – are well known, but the story behind them is less so: How were they rooted in the guild-organized construction craft of Bregenzerwald? Author Mathias Moosbrugger presents his new book, which for the first time makes the oldest guild books of the region accessible in a critical edition and shows: Only from this local history can the art historical significance of the Baroque master builders truly be understood.
