Description

Delphina Burtscher grew up on a remote farm in the Große Walsertal. In 1944, the 18-year-old secretly supported her deserting brothers Willi and Leonhard, as well as her fiancé Martin, who were hiding in the forest. The betrayal of a neighbor led to her arrest – just before the birth of her first child. Willi and Martin were executed, Leonhard escaped. The exhibition centers on Delphina: family memorabilia, a photographic trail search, historical documents, and voices from today also raise fundamental questions: What motivated deserters? What did women like Delphina do at that time? And how do their granddaughters remember her "Omile" today? Accompanying the exhibition is a graphic novel.
