60 years ago, Christmas 1967, John Fogerty and his brother Tom renamed their band, which had performed under various names until then, to Creedence Clearwater Revival – also known as CCR worldwide. At the same time, John replaced his brother as the singer and wrote almost all of the band's hits in the following years. What followed is long-standing music history. With the release of their first album, a real CCR mania arose, which lasted until their disbandment in 1972. Exactly 30 years ago, in spring 1997, guitarist Johnnie Guitar Williamson, who had shared a stage with CCR in Paris in 1970 and was previously a member of the legendary bands Titanic (hit "Sultana" reached number 1 in 7 countries) and The Animals (for 12 years), gathered select musicians to revive the music and sound of Creedence Clearwater Revival for the 30th anniversary celebration. Using the characteristic guitar sound, with the aged Fender Deville amplifiers, they breathed new life into many old CCR hits. The Woodstock legend CCR was considered one of the most successful bands in the world in the late 60s and early 70s. With hits like Suzie Q., Proud Mary, Bad Moon Rising, Who'll Stop the Rain, Hey Tonight, Have You Ever Seen the Rain, and many more, Creedence Clearwater Revived featuring Johnnie Guitar Williamson has tirelessly toured around the globe, attracting over a million visitors in Europe alone in the last decade! The worldwide number is much higher. Creedence Clearwater Revived feat. Johnnie Guitar Williamson will go on a major world tour in 2027 to celebrate the double anniversary properly! The venerable quartet will present not only the current live album Big Wheel Keep on Turnin’ (2025, Megamorephosis label), but also all the great CCR hits and some lesser-known gems – including from the Woodstock performance in 1969, which has never been officially released to this day. When Creedence Clearwater Revived takes the stage, the energy is unstoppable from start to finish, the crowd goes wild, and the ground trembles. It’s a celebration of the rebirth of a legend and a showcase of the pure energy of a fantastic live band! For about two hours, everyone can indulge in memories, recall the good old days, and enjoy the world from the beautiful side. The last tours clearly showed that despite their age – all musicians are between mid-seventies and early eighties – they are far from tired of touring.
