The artist Boris Lurie, born in Russia in 1924, survived the Buchenwald concentration camp and founded the NO! Art movement in New York as a counterpoint to Pop Art. For his art piece "Immigrant's NO Suitcase (Anti-Pop)" he covered and labeled the suitcase he had with him when he emigrated to America in 1946. It was a personal item transformed into a memorial object in art. Filmmaker Rudij Bergmann, living in Mannheim, made a touching film in 2016 commissioned by the Boris Lurie Art Foundation about the life and art of his friend Lurie, whom he met in New York in 1996, speaking with friends and fellow artists of Fluxus and NO-Art. The soundtrack of the film was composed by Claus Boesser-Ferrari and Elliott Sharp, who will perform it live during the screening. The event includes an introduction by Rudij Bergmann.
