The Vorarlberg State Museum – today Vorarlberg Museum – was founded in 1857 and is thus one of the oldest museums in the Lake Constance region. Its depots now house over 160,000 objects from archaeology, art, folk culture, and history. The exhibition 'Literally Vorarlberg' presents significant and less significant items from the museum's rich collection, illustrating a piece of collection and contemporary history. It begins with a series of engravings by artist Angelika Kauffmann, whose father was from the Bregenzerwald, under the letter 'A' like "angelicamad". The coin treasure of Sonderberg – Z like zahla – concludes the exhibition. In between, strictly alphabetically ordered are architectural models, photographs, saint figures, sword pommels, traditional hats, and much more.
