Description

This year marks the hundredth anniversary of the death of the poet Rainer Maria Rilke. We take this as an opportunity to pay special attention to his travels in Switzerland. Above all, Lucerne, Lake Lucerne, and the fashionable Grand Hotel National exerted a special attraction on him. Rilke felt visibly comfortable in this beautifully located house, which he praised as the "most beautiful hotel in Switzerland" and where everything pleased him: not least the stationery and the desks. The significance of Switzerland and numerous influential Swiss personalities for him will be examined in more detail. In addition, the connections between the poet and the Rosengart Collection are highlighted: on the one hand through the impressive works by Paul Cézanne exhibited there, and on the other hand through a family connection.

The tour at the Rosengart Collection Museum in Lucerne is dedicated to the life and work of Rainer Maria Rilke, especially his time in Switzerland.
