B frei ung - Choreography Jai Gonzales, Premiere UnterwegsTheater

Description

B frei ung The UnterwegsTheater ensemble celebrates the freedom of dance with a new choreography by Jai Gonzales on November 12 and 13 at the HebelHalle. Freedom for dance creators means immersing oneself fully in movement and shared dance, trusting one's own skills, and dedicating attention to others and the shared space. In dance, spontaneity's energy and an atmosphere of approachability are celebrated, making openness and generosity perceptible to the audience. For the UnterwegsTheater founder Jai Gonzales, choreography is not about setting steps and imposing intentions but about inviting a shared journey: With her sense for the individuality of dancers, she creates situations and free spaces, leaving room for relationships and moments for impulses. She relies on a troupe of experienced dancers who bring a deep familiarity with their versatile, trained bodies. From initial fragile sketches, choreographer and ensemble develop striking sequences, intensify the flow of movement, and create vivid images where perspectives and possibilities emerge. In the annual survey by the dance media Tanznetz.de, Jai Gonzales was named twice this year: as a choreographer, she was recognized as an "exceptional talent," and as a curator, she was listed in the category "Personalities behind the scenes," who "have convinced with their commitment this season." Dancer and choreographer Jai Gonzales has been leading the UnterwegsTheater Heidelberg since 1988 together with Bernhard Fauser. Her works have been awarded at international festivals and supported by the Goethe-Institut.
