Description

Her work questions identity, history, and representation, combining profound humor with subtle storytelling. Antin's cross-media practice – photography, film, text, performance, sculpture, and installation – invites a fresh look at familiar narratives and reveals surprising perspectives on our individual and societal self-understanding.
At the center of her work is performative self-staging, through which Antin has explored the fluid existence of the self since the late 1960s. She develops characters – including the king, the ballerina, the nurse – who embody various identities, historical references, and inner contradictions.

This retrospective highlights the complexity of Antin's oeuvre and demonstrates how relevant and impactful her work remains today.

Curated for the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein by Christiane Meyer-Stoll with Henrik Utermöhle. The exhibition was initiated and organized by Mudam Luxembourg – Musée d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean. After Vaduz, the exhibition moves to MOCAK – Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow.
