Description

Anna Jermolaewa (born 1970 in Leningrad / Saint Petersburg, RU) directs her alert and empathetic gaze at everyday moments that are easily overlooked and transforms them into vivid parables for social and political realities.

She often works at locations of her own biography, especially in countries related to the former Soviet Union, where she lived until her escape in 1989.

Jermolaewa's artistic practice includes video, installation, photography, performance, painting, and sculpture. Her special interest is in the subtle mechanisms of influence that shape our everyday life.

Anna Jermolaewa has already been represented in two group exhibitions at the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein. Two of the artist's works are in the collection; both were part of her contribution to the Austrian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2024. For her major solo exhibition, Jermolaewa will develop new works.
