Berlin in the summer of 1933: The National Socialists, in power since January, relentlessly persecute their political opponents. Amidst this chaos, the notorious Gestapo arrests the young woman from Aargau, Lili Glarner. She is accused of spying on German military facilities for a communist resistance cell. While she writes increasingly desperate letters to her mother in Wildegg from her 15-month pre-trial detention, her father Paul Glarner pulls every official and unofficial lever to secure her release. "Out of Time" is a scenic approach to the life of a young woman who moves from orderly Switzerland into the center of world-historical upheavals and threatens to be overwhelmed by them. At the Aarau City Museum, the figures that Lili Glarner later created with her husband Helmut Zschokke for their four children can be seen. The children have learned nothing about the time in prison. Peter Jakob Kelting, former artistic director of Bühne Aarau, and the Aargau actress Nathalie Imboden have created a touching evening that reaches from an uncertain time to the present.
