Previously unknown archival material shows a liberal journalist and publisher who fought against Adenauer's muff, clericalism, and corruption, and became an icon of press freedom. But it also shows a torn existence: war trauma, ambition, will to power, political ambitions, and the struggle for national unity and greatness. An impressive biography and at the same time the panorama of a republic (C. H. Beck). The event is moderated by the former Spiegel editor-in-chief and investigative journalist Georg Mascolo.
