Aubétoile is a sound duo formed in 2025 by Éléonore Chevalley and Grégory, following a first musical session during which an immediate connection emerged. Together, they explore a hybrid ambient music that moves between acoustic textures, electronic processing, DIY instruments, and field recordings. Their performances are always different, built around improvisation and a dialogue between their respective tools. Éléonore works with a range of acoustic instruments, from classical cello to noise box, moving between raw and contemplative sounds. Grégory focuses on audio processing: he records the sounds of the instruments live, transforms them, and incorporates his own field recordings gathered during his sonic wanderings. The name Aubétoile comes from a fictional location in the video game Skyrim, whose sonic universe is an inspiration for the duo, alongside cinematic atmospheres in which every vibration becomes an element of composition in its own right. The duo composes and rehearses through several-day residencies, combining studio experimentation with outdoor field recordings.
