Description
Mountains and Mining! Do we have a future, and if so, where? Young Swiss literature discusses homeland, overtourism, and the climate crisis, while the theater delves deeper into the truth. Where does the sudden retreat to mountain villages come from? What nourishes hope? Florian Badel, Janica Irina Madjar, and Sarah Calörtscher will discuss these topics. In Sarah Calörtscher's play «Drill Baby Drill» (from 19.10.26 at Theater Neumarkt), a depressive oracle near the Earth's core refuses to prophesy but still harbors hope, as the heart of the poodle may lie deep within the earth. She sketches a far-reaching and profound vision for the future. In contrast, the protagonists in the novels by Flurina Badel («Nebelflüchtige») and Janica Irina Madjar («Den Berg auf der Zunge») return to their homeland villages scarred by sprawling second homes, tourist infrastructures, and melting permafrost—and disappear into madness or find dubious fulfillment in reconnecting with their homeland. Invited authors: Flurina Badel, Janica Irina Madjar, Sarah Calörtscher Moderation: Rachel Braunschweig Reading: Miriam Japp As part of Zürich liestHighlights
