Description
The development of Artificial Intelligence marks a turning point with far-reaching implications. AI is not just a new technology in human hands. It is a technology that significantly influences us. It changes our understanding of ourselves and the world. The essential question in the face of increasingly powerful AI is therefore not about the possibilities of the technology, but about those of humans: How does man differ from machines, where is his place in the world, and will there still be a special place for him in the age of AI? Ziad Mahayni is a professor of applied ethics at Hochschule Karlsruhe and head of the Center for Ethical Questions in the 21st Century. He studied chemistry and philosophy at TU Darmstadt, Université de Bordeaux, and Harvard University, and previously taught in the fields of future design and creative entrepreneurship. He is the editor of the book series "Ethische Fragen im 21. Jahrhundert" and hosts the podcast "Auf der Kippe - Philosophie für das digitale Zeitalter." The author's photo is by Magali Hauser.
