Description
Actual reality can only be represented and achieved through new, absurd art Daniil Charms Daniil Charms, born in 1905 in Petersburg, is considered a master of absurd miniatures and a brilliant humorist. His characters were once called "puppets of nonsense" and "a festival for brilliant actors" by critic Helmut Schödel, and director Jakob Fedler has found exactly one of these brilliant theater actors in Wolfram Koch. Wolfram Koch is one of Germany's most renowned theater and television actors, performing on all major stages across the country. Among other roles, he played the character of Chief Criminal Inspector Paul Brix in Frankfurt's 'Tatort'. But in the monologue 'Zack. A Symphony', Wolfram Koch appears this time as an entertainer, clown, and player with a trumpet, who simply has to play, dance, and make music. Koch primarily aims to entertain and make his audience laugh, but Daniil Charms' prose, poems, scenes, and dialogues are always texts with a double bottom. Behind the humor lies despair, the plight of the characters. Alongside a Pushkin joke, there is the horror of a totalitarian state. Charms' texts tell of life's absurdities and the political conditions of his time, which can perhaps only be confronted in the end with a large dose of nonsense or a laugh, because tragedy has always been accompanied by comedy. 'Zack. A Symphony' is the third collaborative work of Wolfram Koch, Dorien Thomsen, and Jakob Fedler. After the two Schleef productions 'Ich bins deine Mutter' and 'Gertrud', which were performed at numerous German stages including DT, Volksbühne Berlin, Schauspielhaus Bochum, and Mousonturm in Frankfurt, they are now attempting the texts of Daniil Charms. Wolfram Koch and Jakob Fedler have known each other for 15 years, since Jakob Fedler's assistant director roles with Dimiter Gotscheff.
