Description

"After Anja Breien saw John Cassavetes' Husbands, she felt inspired to provide a humorous response: a chronicle of female escapades. Three former school friends, Mie, Kaja, and Heidrun, now in their early thirties, meet at a class reunion. After a boozy evening, they spontaneously decide to escape their families and obligations; as they wander through Oslo, they discuss sex, femininity, and family duties. The three lead actresses (and co-writers) skillfully rely on improvisation, never breaking the narrative flow, while gradually revealing the inner lives of their characters throughout the tight storyline. Wives was an international success and Anja Breien's breakthrough." (Museum of the Moving Image) Contributors and additional information:
