As the first theater, we present the novel of an extraordinary woman as a stage adaptation: In WIR SPIELEN ALLTAG, Israeli author and peace activist Lizzie Doron tells of her everyday life between Berlin and its partner city Tel Aviv since October 7, 2023. She talks about a daily life that does not exist but continues, encounters with survivors, political discussions at the hairdresser, fading memorial events, and silence on the phone with her Palestinian friend.
Through short episodes from daily life, a disturbing, chaotic reality is revealed, posing an unexpected challenge to the moral compass and compassion, redefining concepts like homeland, friendship, and family. Every day becomes a desperate attempt to hold on to something, to preserve a dream, to stay human.
In close collaboration with Lizzie Doron, successful Israeli director Dori Engel brings the novel to the stage as a musical theater piece. – Why now and in our theater? “Wir spielen Alltag” is a stage adaptation of Lizzie Doron’s novel, which tells of her life between Berlin and Tel Aviv. The premiere takes place at the Theater im Palais Berlin and offers a mix of acting and singing, directed by Dori Engel.
