Description
When the snow in the Alps melts down to the valley, it's time: The mother awakens from her hibernation, her head full of dreams from the past months. She is awaited by the grandfather, cared for by her children, the twins. Soon, the first visitors arrive, for the mother's dreams promise advice and offer comfort. This is how it goes year after year. But this summer, the tenth of the twins, everything will change – and what the mother predicts will come true. Armen Avanessian, philosopher and specialist in speculative thinking from the future, unfolds Hibernation – winter sleep or winter stiffness – as an insight-giving natural technique for our time. He combines philosophical reflection with cultural analysis: Hibernation becomes a metaphor for concrete strategies of winding down and winding up amidst hyperactivity, compulsive growth, and polycrises. Christoph Steier moderates the discussion around Hibernation and Hokuspokus. © Images: Michaela Kölle, Agentur Anzenberger, Diogenes Verlag/Lena Reiner Participants and additional information: Mario Petuzzi, Armen Avanessian, Christoph Steier
