WIND OF CHANGE

Description

Every second, a woman worldwide is put on a roller coaster - blindfolded, without warning or consent. The ride lasts between one and fifteen years. WIND OF CHANGE is a solo about menopause, feminist aging, the transformation of female bodies, and everything else. It is funny and angry, virtuosic, serious, and relevant. Susanne Abelein and Sabrina Zwach have found a language to humorously tell about the 'unfunniest topic in the world,' but also to touch, inform, break taboos, and allow shame. WIND OF CHANGE is not an educational evening nor a concern theater – it is an evening of theater not only for women who are affected but for everyone it concerns: employers, doctors, researchers, insurers, partners, family, friends, children. It deals with experiences that are still rarely spoken about. About bodies that change. About the contradiction between these experiences, society's imperative to function, and a glaring lack of research. But above all, it is about empowerment: reclaiming female bodies – and the authority over them. Fischer Verlag GmbH, Frankfurt am Main SUSANNE ABELEIN works as a performer and actress in Zurich, Hanover, Berlin. Collaborative theater project work from conception to performance is her focus. Invitations include Impulse Festival, Venice Biennale - member of the ensemble of Luzerner Theater under Barbara Mundel. 2003–06 ensemble member at Theater Basel under Lars Ole Walburg. Works with René Pollesch, Sebastian Nübling, CapriConnection, and director at the transcultural Basel theater project fremd?! and in countless independent productions including Marcel Schwald, Patrick Frank, Anne Andresen, Georg Scharegg, Ulrike Willberg, Tim Zulauf/KMU Productions, Kiel/Meppelink. 2017–20 chair of Zürch, co-initiator of FairSpec. SABRINA ZWACH worked as a dramaturg and director in the independent scene. She curated the 5th Festival Politics in Open Air Theater 2005 in Berlin on behalf of the federal government. From 2008–2011, she worked under Frank Castorf in artistic leadership at Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz and on projects with Herbert Fritsch. She worked as a dramaturg at Berliner Ensemble, then in artistic leadership at Burgtheater, and is now again working as a free author and dramaturg. She writes for theater and television. From the 2027/28 season, she will be part of the management at Schauspielhaus Bochum. She lives in Berlin.

General Information

WIND OF CHANGE is an evening of theater that deals with women's experiences during menopause. The performance takes place at TD Berlin and is aimed at a broad audience to inform and discuss often taboo topics.
