GROOMED BRUTALITY For 20 years, Whitechapel from Knoxville has been known for refined Deathcore and Death Metal. With their ninth album "Hymns Of Dissonance," the Americans returned in 2025 to the uncompromisingly brutal sound of their early days. In 2027, they will come to Europe with the "Burn Forever Tour" to knock out fans with their blast beat hymns. Opening acts: Sylosis, 200 Stab Wounds, and Tribal Gaze. "Hymns In Dissonance" – the title of Whitechapel's current album – is programmatic. "There is nothing beautiful about HID, from the riffs to the lyrics to the overall melody of the album. We tried to write our hardest album so far. We wanted to release something shocking, threatening, and brutal," says guitarist Alex Wade about his band's latest work. "The album follows the story of a cultist who collects people to join his cult. There are moments in this story where the cult followers sing a hymn to open a portal through which the main cultist can enter." The band's dynamic, brutal musicality provides the perfect soundtrack to the captivating story vividly imagined by singer Phil Bozeman: "’Hymns in Dissonance’ is a mockery of the true nature of hymns," he says. "Hymns are melodic and harmonious. Dissonance is exactly the opposite of melody and harmony. It stands for evil. And the tracks on the record represent the seven deadly sins." The critic from Metal Hammer magazine comments on the band's latest output: "We have just gotten used to Whitechapel opening a new, quieter chapter of their band career with ‘The Valley,’ which continued in the 2021 work ‘Kin.’ Those expecting a continuation will be surprised and overwhelmed by ‘Hymns Of Dissonance’!" He sums up the relentless death storm as follows: "Over ten tracks, everything is blasted in fiery red color. The blast beat machinery fires continuously, and the diabolical vocals of Philip Bozeman range between growling and screaming." Truly, there is no room for sentimentality. SYLOSIS: Since 2000, the band from Reading, England, has been known for uncompromising riff storms and technical precision. In February 2026, Sylosis released their highly anticipated, career-defining new album "The New Flesh" via Nuclear Blast. It is a monumental testament to destructive riffs, catchy melodies, and refined brutal force. The band's seventh studio album is a powerful snapshot: deadly, uncompromising, and thoroughly metal. The band states: "We couldn't be happier with what we've created here. It is our hardest yet most diverse and collaborative album. We've already played many of these songs live, and it was great to see how positively the audience reacted. It really feels like a next step for the band. We can't wait to see you all again." 200 STAB WOUNDS: After an EP and an album for the iconic underground label Maggot Stomp, the rising death metal newcomers 200 Stab Wounds from Cleveland signed with Metal Blade Records in 2024. The renowned label eventually released the full-length "Manual Manic Procedures." The record is a brutal piece of old-school death metal with a modern touch. The tracks are definitely not for the faint-hearted and have brought classic gore music back into the collective consciousness of the metal community. Stormbringer.at comments: "In just over 29 minutes of playtime, it is mainly dynamics and pressure that impress. 200 Stab Wounds no longer act as dull caveman death in the style of Sanguisugabogg, but vary within the songs with torture tempos, sprinkle biting solos into open wounds, or build threatening horror film atmospheres with a synth-guitar interlude." It sounds at times as if Cannibal Corpse and Jungle Rot were crossed in a genetic research lab, later mixed with Skinless, and after a long mutation process, a wonderfully ugly hybrid was unleashed on humanity. TRIBAL GAZE: This project was born out of boredom in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Quickly, Tribal Gaze developed into a serious band, releasing their first album in 2022. During a concert, A&R legend/talent scout Monte Conner noticed the Texans and helped them secure a deal with Nuclear Blast. The first result of this collaboration is called "Inveighing Brilliance" (2025) and offers old school death metal with hardcore elements, somewhere between Obituary, Gatecreeper, and 200 Stab Wounds. With a good sense for punchy short songs, Tribal Gaze gets the neck muscles moving. The critic from Metalfactory.ch writes in his review: "From the burned earth of Texas, Tribal Gaze returns with ‘Inveighing Brilliance,’ a death metal monolith characterized by violence and relentless brutality.
