WHERE IS EVERYBODY?

Description

What if, instead of integrating performers with disabilities within the framework and conventions of a choreographic culture designed by and for able-bodied artists, the logic was, for once, reversed as much as possible? Where is everybody? was born from a meeting, during a workshop, between the ZOO company, the company of choreographer Thomas Hauert, and dancers from Platform K, a Belgian association based in Ghent that trains performers with disabilities in contemporary dance. The idea emerged to propose a creation with a team that brings together three performers from each company, with the material being precisely the meeting of two universes, the birth of a shared, unprecedented, non-hierarchical stage language. Starting from the proposals of the performers, their musical choices, and a sharing of unique choreographic writing tools based on improvisation, which ZOO has been developing for many years, Where is everybody? invites us to see the world through different perspectives and experiences. With Where is everybody?, Thomas Hauert – Swiss Grand Prize for the Performing Arts 2025 – suggests another way of dancing, looking, and positioning oneself in relation to others. From this accumulation of forms and situations emerges a new common method where the unexpected, creativity, the moment, and the living are expressed.
