The magic of Lanzarote, our connection to nature, and the slight inclination towards the supernatural continue in our name: ALVA comes from Old Norse and is a tribute to Jannike's Swedish roots. It means "fighting elf." A combination of magic, softness, and strength, just like our music.
we are ALVA was born. We are Jan & Jannike, passionate musicians and little hippies at heart. Together, we form the core of we are ALVA. Jannike plays piano and sings, Jan plays guitar and sings. But above all, we have both been passionate songwriters since childhood. Whether as a duo or with our five-piece band, we create a sound that is somewhere between a modern version of the Beatles and the Kings of Convenience.
In our music, heartfelt singer-songwriter vibes meet groovy indie-pop. With driving rhythm section, distinctive two-part harmonies, playful keys, and detailed guitar layers, you flip through a colorful and diverse musical picture book, into which you dive deeper page by page, song by song.
