"When I started my apprenticeship, I landed in a new world. I didn't understand what people were talking about and how they behaved. I felt like a tadpole among a bunch of fully grown frogs. And I asked myself: is this really what I want to become – a frog?" Two teenagers and two adults meet in a broken elevator. What begins as forced small talk soon bursts the cabin: the leap into adulthood, which can feel like free fall, adults who themselves have not yet landed or want to take off again. For its latest play, Weltalm Theater interviewed over 60 young people at Bern middle and vocational schools. What they told about growing up, failing, and their limits forms the basis for a play that humorously and with a broken elevator deconstructs the myth of the straight path in life.
