«Wahrnehmungswelten» - Rendez-vous des arts with the artist Ursula Biemann

From a long-term collaboration of the artist Ursula Biemann with the Inga in the Colombian Amazon region, the art projects «Devenir Universidad» and «Forest Mind» emerged. The starting point was the founding of an Indigenous University initiated by the Inga. Both projects deal with the rainforest as a living space of knowledge and make different forms of knowledge, thinking, and learning tangible. In her presentation, Ursula Biemann explains her artistic approach. This combines scientific, personal, and phenomenological perspectives. Admission is free

Ursula Biemann (*1955) is an artist, author, and video essayist. In her research-based practice, she investigates climate change and political ecologies of forests, oil, and water based on fieldwork in different regions - from Greenland to Amazonia. In her videos, books, and installations, she explores the interplay of ecology, knowledge, and power and its consequences for humans, society, and the environment. Ursula Biemann's works are shown internationally in museums, at film festivals, and major art biennials. Biemann recently had solo exhibitions at MAMAC in Nice and at MUAC, Museum of Contemporary Art in Mexico City. In the online monograph «Becoming Earth», Ursula Biemann published over twelve years of her ecological video works and texts.
