Description
The historical novel «Wachs» by Christine Wunnicke is set in 18th-century France. It focuses on two extraordinary women: Marie Biheron, who dissects corpses and creates detailed wax models from them, and Madeleine Basseporte, who draws plants and flowers with great precision. Their shared enthusiasm for science and accurate observation connects them – and they fall in love. Nina Kunz reads selected passages from the novel. In conversation with Sabina Carraro, insights into the history and technique of wax modeling are provided. Afterwards, there is an opportunity to view wax models from the collection. The event is held in cooperation with the exhibition «Modelle – Wissen formen» [https://extract.ethz.ch/ausstellung.html] at the ETH Zurich extract. Participating artists: Nina Kunz, Sabina Carraro
