Description
Nina Kunz reads from the novel «Wax» and discusses the history of wax anatomical models in conversation with Sabina Carraro. Afterwards, a visit to the museum is possible. An event in cooperation with the exhibition «Models – Shaping Knowledge» at extract (www.extract.ethz.ch). The historical novel «Wax» by Christine Wunnicke is set in 18th-century France. The focus is on two extraordinary women: Marie Biheron, who dissects corpses and creates detailed wax models from them, and Madeleine Basseporte, who draws plants and flowers with great accuracy. Their shared enthusiasm for science and precise observation connects them – and they fall in love. Nina Kunz reads selected passages from the novel. In conversation with Sabina Carraro, insights into the history and technique of wax modeling are provided. Afterwards, there is an opportunity to view wax models from the Moulagen collection.
