Description

The speaker, Julia von Siebenthal, provides insight into the main differences between Japanese and local culture, such as the very different communication styles. She also offers valuable tips on how to behave respectfully in Japan and avoid faux pas, from restaurants to the "Onsen," the thermal bath. Julia von Siebenthal lived in Japan for a total of four years starting in 2017 as an assistant English teacher within the framework of the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) program and as a master's student at Waseda University in Tokyo, where she earned her degree in International Culture and Communication Studies. She is currently working as a research associate at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in Bern. Organized by the Japanese Embassy on the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Liechtenstein. Admission is free.
