Vorband: Smilla Diener – The World in the Mountain

Description

In the series "Vorband," we present to you young writers from Switzerland on 11 evenings in the 2026/27 season, each before a regular reading. In June 2026, they participated in the second masterclass for young writers living in Switzerland, aged 18 to 28, led by Verena Rossbacher, under the motto "Plot, Twist, and Timing: How do I sharpen the dramaturgy of a text?" Smilla Diener (*2000) studied industrial design and cultural journalism, writes texts, produces audio and video, builds installations, and moderates discussions. Smilla's work is always interested in encounters in physical space and addresses topics such as human-technology relationships, the significance of the commons, and our agency in the climate crisis. Currently, Smilla is working on a longer text about a tunnel boring machine operator and the legacy of the century of acceleration.
