VoodooV is a four-piece groove machine from Finland that combines tight funk rhythms, gentle refrains, and psychedelic solos with the intensity of a rock band. Their sound blends influences from 60s funk and psych-rock to modern indie and beyond. Founded during jam sessions in a studio nicknamed "The Bunker" during the pandemic, VoodooV quickly evolved from a circle of friends to a full-fledged band. The name, a palindrome, reflects the band's spiritual philosophy – energy flowing in both directions between audience and performers, chaos, and groove. Their debut album "Jamgem" from 2023 captured the spontaneous spirit of those bunker sessions – a response to the surrounding madness of uncertain times. With singles like "Black Market Bubblegum," the album resonated well beyond Finland with listeners and was released digitally and on vinyl for a growing international audience. As the Jamgem era ended, the band was already working on new material. In early 2024, they entered the studio with producer Raphael Neikes (Spiral Drive, Mother’s Cake), marking the transition from DIY isolation to global collaboration. While finishing the new album in Germany, VoodooV played their first international concerts, presenting their energetic live set to audiences abroad. Their new album "Hello World," released in November 2025, deals with themes like digital alienation, online populism, and the commercialization of spirituality. Despite its critical perspective, the album maintains an ironic, optimistic tone, with danceable grooves and a multifaceted mix of psychedelic rock, indie-pop, and funk. Still rooted in the sweaty rehearsal rooms of their past and boldly stepping onto international stages, VoodooV looks outward – ready to connect, evolve, and groove even more intensely.
