«Von Tieren und anderen Menschen» with Lea Schneider

Description

What distinguishes us from animals? And what is even an «animal»? In eleven essays, Lea Schneider tells of non-human persons and animism, of men who evaluate animals, and animals who don't care, of evolution and freedom, and dreams as resistance. When Lea Schneider started observing birds, she learned that only the males sing – to attract females, for species preservation, evolution theory. But in truth, 71 percent of female songbirds also sing. And like the males, they do this not only out of necessity but also because they simply enjoy it. «Von Tieren und anderen Menschen» offers us a radically different perspective on our co-living beings and, amidst the climate catastrophe, hope: for a future where we build new worlds together. An essential re-exploration of the relationship between humans and animals: surprising, poetic, world-expanding.
