From the Steam Locomotive to the S6: From the History of the Bern-Schwarzenburg Railway

Why was a railway line built from Bern to the pre-Alps to Schwarzenburg 120 years ago? There were already discussions during the planning: meter gauge or standard gauge? Even after the opening, not everything was clear: Why do you have to change trains at Fischermätteli? And later: Can a cheaply purchased railcar reduce the deficit? Today's S-Bahn line S6 from Bern to Schwarzenburg of BLS AG was formerly an independent railway company and had to struggle with ups and downs. The former president of the Dampflok 51 Schwarzenburg association, Andreas Messerli, reports with many pictures from the 121 years of history of the Bern-Schwarzenburg Railway (BSB) AG and cordially invites all interested parties to a time travel together with the three organizers.
