Volksmusikfestival Altdorf

Description

In its 8th edition, the festival presents over 20 concerts at Theater Uri, Schlüssel-Saal, Schützenmatt, Café Central, and the festival tent on Altdorfer Lehnplatz, where there will also be two dance nights again. Two open stages invite young and older, smaller and larger formations to present their own folk music in Altdorf.

The organizer is the House of Folk Music, which celebrates its 20th anniversary with musicians from all cantons of Switzerland and for this reason goes all out. It brings, for example, the Bern brass collective Traktorkestar together with the Harmonie Lausannoise wind orchestra on stage. The opening concert is already a true highlight: the Andermatt composer and accordionist Fränggi Gehrig composes and arranges a complete program for the Theater Uri house orchestra and performs it in a duo with Maria Gehrig as well as the orchestra.
