Description
Father and daughter meet in the house of the deceased Lina to take care of the estate. The two are estranged, unable to allow closeness, although they actually wish to. As they talk about Lina, they recognize behavioral patterns that have shaped their lives to this day.
In Switzerland, so-called "care coercive measures" were carried out until the 1980s. Hundreds of thousands of children, adolescents, and adults were placed elsewhere, exploited, declared incompetent, sterilized against their will, or cared for in institutions. The violence exercised by authorities and societal exclusion still resonate in many families today.
Sandra Forrer's text describes how transgenerational traumas sneak into everyday life as seemingly normal behavioral patterns and manages to break the silence about these often shame-laden family topics with humor and lightness. A production by Nina Mariel Kohler.
