The Büchner Prize winner Ursula Krechel is a 'chronic trail changer': she writes poetry, novels, essays - and sometimes also plays. Characteristic of her texts are her historical interest as well as precise, journalistic research. In her work, she deals intensively with topics such as exile, political violence, social upheavals, power, resistance, and the societal role of women. Recently, her essay 'Vom Herzasthma des Exils' and 'Sehr geehrte Frau Ministerin', a radically contemporary novel about the profound relationships between sons and their mothers, were published. With a linguistic power that amazes, Ursula Krechel tells of symbiotic motherhood, women at existential risk, and political violence.
