The Vikings are coming Týr is starting their next adventure with their own record label and new album. In December, the Faroese musicians will return to Switzerland with their melodic progressive folk metal hymns. Even on their tenth album, Týr does not close themselves off to new influences but remains loyal to their unmistakable Viking prog. We have played so many times at your wonderful venue, Z7, but this was definitely the best time we've ever had there." The Bueheres.com were on site at Paganfest and reviewed Týr's performance as follows: "The majestic melodies and powerful singing of Heri Joensen completely captivated the audience. Especially impressive was how synchronously the band combined their multi-part vocals with the sound-rich guitar arrangements. Songs like 'Blood of Heroes' ignited enthusiasm that swept up both longtime fans and newcomers. The atmosphere during the performance was electrifying and made the hall virtually boil." This is expected to be surpassed in December 2026 when Týr returns as headliner of a fine folk metal package to Z7. With their unique blend of heavy metal and Faroese ballads, a melodically harmonious variant of folk/viking metal, and progressive influences, Týr has carved out a unique niche in the metal universe since their debut in 2002. Particularly notable within the genre is the consistent use of clean vocals and the absence of any growls. This genre is now called kvæðamálmur (ballad metal) in the Faroe Islands. Their themes are rooted in Norse mythology, with lyrics mostly in Faroese or English. Over the past years, the band has traveled the world with their hymns: among other things, they toured North America with Children Of Bodom or sailed in true Viking style on the 70,000 Tons Of Metal Cruise. This year, the band's tenth album will be released, the first on their own record label. Early in the year, Týr announced that they want to take their musical destiny into their own hands so that the rights to their songs will forever belong 100% to the band.
