There is something folksong-like hidden in this music – intersections where secular and sacred music meet for dance." This is what DIE ZEIT wrote in 2008 about the duo's debut album, titled Yeraz. This statement still holds true today, but the relationship between the saxophonist and the accordionist has become even more fluid and dreamlike in the meantime. On Our Time, Trygve and Frode exchange contrapuntal-motivated side glances, lyrical escalations, and explorations of musical textures with grace, eloquence, and utmost nuance. They present a program of original compositions, improvisations, and thoughtful reinterpretations of traditional songs from Ukraine and North India. Recorded at the Himmelfahrtskirche in Munich in 2023 and produced by Manfred Eicher, Our Time indeed unites the tone of the saxophonist and the accordionist into a surreal and magical dance. Zsófia Boros, among all guitarists, is one of the most sonically sensitive. Zsófia Boros’s music seems to float, takes you along, opens doors, and tells of sound spaces. On ‘El ultimo aliento,’ she has dedicated herself exclusively to compositions by fellow guitarists [...] Boros’s confident playing elevates them all. With Mathias Duplessy (*1972), a beautiful start is achieved: sustained arpeggios, with shimmering solo tones that spring from a romantic manner. Overall, it feels as if the Spanish guitar idiom is reborn here. [...] All of this is played enchantingly – like an ongoing story.
