A literary-musical evening in honor of the exceptional author Katherine Mansfield. Actress Liliana Heimberg and Trio Artemis weave selected texts with impressive music by female composers of the late Romantic and Impressionist periods.
On the hundredth anniversary of the death of the New Zealand writer Katherine Mansfield, Liliana Heimberg and Trio Artemis dedicate a finely tuned program to this extraordinary personality. Mansfield is considered a pioneer of the modern short story; her work is characterized by sharp observation, emotional depth, and a lifelong closeness to music.
Actress Liliana Heimberg reads stories, diary passages, and letters that vividly reveal the inner world of the author. The reading is complemented by music from Rebecca Clarke, Amy Beach, Ethel Smyth, Dora Pejaćevič, and other female composers of her time. The combination of word and sound opens an atmospheric experience that illuminates Mansfield's life and work in all its facets.
Trio Artemis – present as a virtuosic chamber music ensemble at home and abroad for over 20 years – accompanies with great joy of playing and sensitivity. Together they remember a literary icon whose work still resonates today.
