Description

In the African village of Tiébélé, a young woman embarks on a quest for traces: she mixes clay and water and, while applying the clay paint, follows the gestures of her ancestors. Accompanied by singing and the sound of the live-played N’goni, a journey to the roots of humanity begins. She follows the traces that the women of this village in Burkina Faso have left on their houses. “Tiébélé” is a piece that combines art and poetry. Earth and song. Organic material and delicate material. A creation that connects the gestures of these African women with the first traces left by toddlers. TIME TO PLAY Parallel to the created stage space, the artists offer children an installation after the performance where they can explore the materials they previously observed. This way, they can leave their own traces and keep a memory of the artistic moment in their home. Space for adventure and creativity: touch, feel, discover, scribble... For a long time, the Compagnie de la Guimbarde has tried through its artistic approach to build bridges between Europe and West Africa. Encounters, exchange of glances, and authentic togetherness are at the forefront. Their artistic universe weaves sources of inspiration gathered here and there. “Tiébélé” arose from the desire to share these spontaneous artistic gestures, from this natural search for beauty that moves these women from Burkina Faso every year to decorate the walls of their houses with singing. In co-production with the European project Mapping in collaboration with the Association Wéléni (Burkina Faso).
