The Slackers and Café Atlantik have a long-standing friendship and have shared many wonderful concerts. With every show and release, The Slackers prove that the New York Times rightly describes them as "the sound of New York." We look forward to the return of the charming New York sextet led by Vic Ruggiero to Freiburg at Café Atlantik. They call their unique blend of Ska, Rocksteady, Dub, R&B, Reggae, Soul, Rock’n'Roll, Garage Rock, and 60s Pop simply Jamaican Rock’n’Roll. Vic Ruggiero's distinctive, laid-back vocals with his characteristic New York accent are complemented by driving organ, grooving brass, and a sharp guitar. Their lyrical depth and musical breadth make The Slackers probably the most popular current Ska band even outside genre enthusiasts.
