FBI trainee Clarice Starling is still in the middle of her training when she is assigned a case that experienced colleagues have failed: A serial killer abducts women and skins them. The only clue leads to a high-security cell to Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist and convicted cannibal. To gain his knowledge, Clarice must engage in a conversation that is more negotiation than interrogation. In the end, it is unclear who is really seeing through whom. A small detail on the side: The moth on the movie poster exists as a Death's-head Hawkmoth already in the original novel by Thomas Harris.
