Description

“Give yourself over to absolute pleasure.” A young, conservative couple gets engaged in a cemetery and embarks on a journey to the teacher where they first met. On the way, their car breaks down in the middle of the night. In search of help, they enter the castle of a hedonistic party community and its leader, the eccentric scientist Dr. Frank N. Furter, who creates Rocky, the perfect man. The couple dives into a strange world full of pleasure, music, and sex – and returns completely transformed. The Rocky Horror Picture Show initially flopped at the box office in 1975 but unexpectedly became a cult film. In the “Midnight Showings,” queerness, B-horror film effects, science fiction, extravagance, and glamour are celebrated unabashedly through the audience's joyful participation and the performances of the legendary shadow casts of amateur actors. Together with the legendary Berlin drag queens Judy LaDivina and Bibingka, the RambaZamba ensemble invites you to an evening that transforms this tradition into a new form: an inclusive drag night! In the art form of drag, genders are playfully explored, and the category of gender is examined as a performative experience – through wild lip-sync performances to pop songs, intimate monologues, and immediate encounters with the audience. Being different is not hidden or judged here, but celebrated in a grand emancipatory act. Like The Rocky Horror Picture Show, drag creates spaces of liberation where bodies, desires, and belonging are renegotiated. The RambaZamba ensemble opens its castle in the Kulturbrauerei as a refuge for all creatures of the night – those who must fear for their sovereignty and integrity in times of societal polarization – and invites you to eroticism, free love, and participation.
