The Other Side – An Exercise in Laughing under Authoritarian Conditions

Description

In a state that could be everywhere and nowhere, a Supreme Leader rules through media monopoly, surveillance, and disinformation.
A spiritual leader deepens societal division. At the borders, drones chase desperate migrants. A war refugee fights for her residence permit in an anonymous administrative office, while encounters with a fanatical official and confrontations with a contradictory system become a humiliating test. Grotesque absurdity turns into administrative psychological terror. Against the backdrop of rising nationalism and global crises, "The Other Side" becomes a disturbing mirror of our society. A production by Shashank Purushotham & Marcel Schwald.
