THE GREGORIAN VOICES - The Night of 1000 Candles Gregorian chant meets pop – From the Middle Ages to today As part of their current tour, THE GREGORIAN VOICES are giving seven additional extraordinary concerts in Switzerland. The stage and the celebrated ensemble shine in the glow of 1000 candles. Since spring 2011, the group THE GREGORIAN VOICES has been successfully touring Europe. Under the artistic direction of Oleksiy Semenchuk, the exceptional Ukrainian soloists present the musical tradition of Gregorian chant in a refined manner. Dressed in traditional monk robes, the singers create a mystical atmosphere in a sea of candlelight, taking the audience on a fascinating journey through centuries of sacred music from the Middle Ages to the present day. Experience a varied concert with a mix of Gregorian chants, Orthodox church music, and songs and madrigals from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. With its vocal power and many solo passages, the choir and its soloists impressively demonstrate how Gregorian chant can sound today. Authentic yet contemporary. In the second part of the concert, pop music classics are performed, including "Ameno" by ERA, "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban, "My Way" by Frank Sinatra, "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen, "Sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel, "Sailing" by Rod Stewart, as well as other new musical highlights newly arranged in the style of Gregorian chant for the Night of 1000 Candles.
