Description

The evening where your favorite melodies come to life You already know this music. You've heard it in movies, at weddings, on the radio, throughout your life. The triumphant "Nessun Dorma." The tender "O Mio Babbino Caro." The splendor of *The Nutcracker*. The unstoppable cannons of the 1812 Overture. *Time to Say Goodbye*. But there is a huge difference between listening to a recording and feeling the presence of 60 musicians filling the hall all around you, the strings soaring, the brass blossoming, the final chord floating in the air before the applause erupts. In a single evening, the Grand Romance Gala brings together the most romantic music Tchaikovsky ever wrote and the opera arias that the whole world loves — performed live by one of the most remarkable young orchestras in Europe. The arias you know thanks to the great voices of Pavarotti, Bocelli, Te Kanawa, and Netrebko — performed live in sumptuous symphonic arrangements by the vocal soloists of the United Soloists Orchestra. About the orchestra Described by the press as "the ensemble that is revolutionizing music in Europe" (Ticino Welcome), the United Soloists Orchestra is a Swiss symphonic ensemble founded in 2017. It brings together young virtuoso soloists from the most prestigious institutions in Europe — including the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, Teatro alla Scala, and the Royal Concertgebouw. The vocal soloists of the orchestra take center stage in the second part of the evening, bringing to life, alongside their colleagues, the most famous arias in the world. Their performances have been described as an "explosion of life" (laRegione): they combine exceptional technical level with a warm, generous, and deeply expressive sound. As the media have written: "This is not just music: it is magic!" (Ticino Welcome) Under the musical direction of Arseniy Shkaptsov, the orchestra is driven by a simple conviction: no one should ever feel that this music "is not for them." Tonight, it is for you. The soloists
Olga Czerwinski · soprano This Austrian soprano of Russian origin is just as comfortable at the Musikverein in Vienna as on the grand stages of Asia. After her debut in the role of Zerlina in Mozart's *Don Giovanni*, she was invited to the Teatro Ristori in Verona, the Bühne Baden, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, the Guangzhou Opera, and the Grand Theatre of Shanghai. She can regularly be heard as a soloist at the traditional Viennese balls held at the Hofburg — a world from which the operetta melodies of this evening originate. With over 1,500 concerts to her credit and the first prize at the Alpe-Adria competition in Udine, she is among the most expressive voices of her generation. Her first album, dedicated to the cycles of romances by Sergei Rachmaninoff, will be released next year. Francesco Tuppo · tenor This Italian tenor is among the most sought-after interpreters of Rossini of his generation. He has performed in the role of Don Ramiro in *La Cenerentola* at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, at the Teatro Regio in Parma, and at the Teatro Argentina in Rome, as well as in the role of Count Almaviva at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and at the Novosibirsk Opera under the direction of Dmitri Jurowski. At the Teatro Comunale Luciano Pavarotti in Modena, he gave a concert in honor of the great tenor. He is equally at home in operetta: The Merry Widow, The Csardas Princess, The Beautiful Helen — performed in venues such as the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo and the Teatro Coccia in Novara.
