Description

After the Great War, the world and our small republic changed, along with the people and their possibilities. Thanks to modern times and globalization, the whole world dances to the rhythm of black jazz, loves and imitates Hollywood silent film stars, and fully utilizes new technologies and means of travel. Speed and freedom are everything, and both men and women abandon their old established rules to gain new opportunities, experiences, and acquaintances—whether through expanded travel or the newfound ability to work, vote, and love whom they choose. While most of mainstream society focuses on the new arrangement of the world and the general established order, some young women fully embrace their newly acquired freedom to experiment as much as possible with their appearance and how far they can push the boundaries of convention—through tattoos, wearing fishnet clothing, dog collars, piercings, or casual sex. Come and see that almost everything modern, wild, and extraordinary was already here 100 years ago and get to know the so-called modern woman who fought for the freedom we have today—in very unconventional ways. The lecture by collector and owner of Aristokrat Vintage, a Prague shop specializing in antique women's fashion from 1860-1960, Anežka Tary Znamenáčková, will take place on October 13 at 19:00. Limited seating. The event is part of the exhibition 1. REPUBLIC & ART DECO. Gallery One One invites you to a unique exhibition of contemporary art inspired by the elegance of the First Republic and the aesthetics of Art Deco. The project is organized in collaboration with photographer Angelo Purgert, whose photographic project with a charitable aspect will be part of the exhibition. The atmosphere of the period will also be complemented by the Aristokrat Vintage exhibition featuring original antique fashion and the Coffee Museum Alchymista exhibition, which will remind us of the history and culture of coffee. The exhibition will connect contemporary art, photography, fashion, and the legacy of the First Republic in one common story. The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and also has a charitable aspect. ________ GALLERY ONE ONE Truhlářská 1105/11 110 00 Prague 1
