How robots get to know our world: From the first steps to support right at your doorstep Robots are slowly arriving in the city – but have you seen a deployment yet? The journey of a postman from the delivery van to the front door looks simple, but for a robot, it is full of obstacles. Following traffic rules, carrying heavy packages, overcoming the curb, and then finding the right door. The FZI Research Center for Informatics in Karlsruhe researches how to teach robots all this – from learning to walk to orienting in unfamiliar environments. With Dr.-Ing. Georg Heppner (FZI Research Center for Informatics) The TECHNOarena Late Shift offers tech enthusiasts the opportunity for personal and interactive exchange with researchers about future technologies that are currently being developed.
