Description
In her workshop, Gabrielle Neuhaus invites you to observe within ourselves and in relation to others what resistance can mean and how it is embodied in movement and space. Is resistance always a reaction to a stimulus, or can it also arise spontaneously? How do we perceive physical action, inaction, and reaction through the lens of the concept of resistance, and how do we perform them?
Participants work individually, in pairs, or in groups, in silence or with music, to discover and explore subtle and gentle or direct and powerful forms of expression of resistance against sensory phenomena such as gravity or against the influence of music or other participants on our movement and dance. We also let ourselves be guided by these stimuli (can a moment of harmony and unity with our environment be experienced as an act of resistance?) or initiate our own stimuli that others can accept or ignore. Where do we find the intersections of freedom and resistance in our movement?
