The French-Austrian choreographer Gisèle Vienne combines choreographic precision with cinematic imagery and psychological density to create a distinctive visual language. In «Crowd», she transforms a rave into a hypnotic landscape of emotions. Fifteen dancers move between ecstasy and paralysis, desire and violence, closeness and loneliness. In extreme slow motion, an intense panorama of human relationships and collective experiences unfolds. Dampfzentrale: «Crowd» is part of this year's festival program because hardly any other performance so convincingly shows how people change each other, what collective dynamics are capable of, and that a group is always more than the sum of individuals. Between longing and loneliness, intoxication and violence, a pull arises that draws the audience into the contradictions of human existence.
