Anadolu Quartet Europe In Tales Not Told, the Anadolu Quartet Europe, along with illustrator Ernesto Herrera Ortez and intercultural moderator Gamze Karaca, tells the stories of musicians and peoples who have been persecuted, displaced, censored, or never truly recognized in their work. The one-hour program includes pieces in languages such as Kurmanci, Zazaki, Turkish, Laz, Ladino, Arabic, and Armenian. Between the pieces, Gamze Karaca shares short stories about these musicians and peoples, weaving in the life stories of the quartet members on stage, who have also left their countries or are children of immigrants. To provide the audience with a visual access to the content, illustrator Ernesto Herrera Orta draws live on stage images related to the stories, which are projected onto the wall with a projector. This makes the program an engaging experience for younger audiences as well. Tales Not Told was created with the support of the Berlin Senate for Culture and Social Cohesion as part of the IMPACT program, which particularly promotes art formats that can integrate different cultures and break down barriers for people with disabilities. Therefore, Gamze Karaca also moderates for people with visual impairments and describes the visual content. The Anadolu Quartet was founded in Turkey by violinist and musician Ahmet Tirgil. The string quartet is known for interpreting Anatolian folk songs with classical instruments and regularly tours with various guest musicians throughout Turkey. The Anadolu Quartet Europe also includes violinist Dorothée Royez, violist Theresa Burggaller, and cellist Zeynep Akdil. The performance on November 7, 2026, at 4 PM is suitable for young people aged 8 and above! The performances are supported by the District Office Treptow-Köpenick as part of the Integration Fund – district neighborhood program funded by the Senate Administration for Labor, Social Affairs, Equality, Integration, Diversity, and Anti-Discrimination.
